⚠️ The honest catch: standby is not a guaranteed shift, so it is never certain anyone picks up. A worker with no confirmed job has every right to be asleep at 7am. Standby raises the odds a long way. It does not make the recovery a promise.
After standby, the search widens to whoever is free, ticketed and close enough to travel. And the last resort is a new worker who has never been placed on your site — which we will ask you about rather than assume, because an unknown on an already-bad morning is your call, not ours.
The fill rate, and why location decides it
Straight answer: we fill roughly half of these the same morning.
Not sixty or seventy per cent. Not "almost always". About half — and the variable that moves it most is not urgency or effort, it is where your site is.
